Freddy Dayan Prize in French

Rule No. 15

Freddy Elie Dayan was a member of the Department of Modern Languages from 1965 until his retirement in 1982. After his retirement, colleagues, friends and former students of Mr Dayan donated $1,000 to the University. The donors asked that the gift be used to endow a prize in honour of Mr Dayan, and that the prize be awarded to a student in French. The Council of the University agreed to the foundation of a prize in the terms declared in the Rules made at that time. However, because of changes in circumstances, Council now makes these revised Rules.
